Artist: Paul Burdette Title: Grizzly Bear Medium: Cold-cast bronze on polished marble base Date: 2005 (copyright dated) Dimensions: 8.5"H × 10"W A well-executed contemporary wildlife sculpture depicting a grizzly bear climbing over a rugged rock formation. The bear is rendered with realistic anatomical proportions and finely sculpted fur, while the naturalistic rocky base provides a dramatic setting. The sculpture is finished in a warm bronze patina and mounted on an elegant polished marble base, enhancing its presentation. Signed in the casting "P. Burdette" with copyright date 2005, this decorative wildlife sculpture would make an attractive addition to a cabin, lodge, office, or collection of North American wildlife art. Artist Biography: Paul Burdette is a Canadian wildlife sculptor and master decoy carver from Toronto, Ontario. His lifelong interest in Canadian wildlife, hunting, and fishing led him to begin carving decoys while working as a superintendent for the Otis Elevator Company. After achieving major success in competitive carving—including winning the prestigious Ward World Championship in the Decoy Pairs competition in 1974—he established Burdette Studio, where he became a full-time sculptor and instructor. Over the course of his career, Burdette has taught thousands of students and earned recognition for his exceptionally realistic wildlife carvings and sculptures, particularly waterfowl and North American game animals. His work is represented in numerous private collections and is respected among collectors of wildlife art and decorative sculpture.
