Carefully modeled with exceptional attention to feather texture and anatomical accuracy, the owl's piercing eyes and distinctive feather tufts capture the commanding presence of one of North America's most recognizable birds of prey. Finished in a warm bronze patina and mounted on a polished green marble base, the sculpture exemplifies Paul Burdette's celebrated approach to wildlife sculpture. Signed in the casting "P. Burdette", dated 2013, and numbered 29/30, this scarce edition is an attractive example of the artist's later work and would appeal to collectors of Canadian wildlife sculpture. Artist BiographyPaul Burdette is a Canadian wildlife sculptor and master decoy carver from Toronto, Ontario. Inspired by a lifelong passion for wildlife, hunting, and fishing, Burdette left a successful career with Otis Elevator to become a full-time sculptor. He achieved international recognition after winning the prestigious Ward World Championship Decoy Pairs Competition in 1974 and later established Burdette Studio, where he taught thousands of aspiring carvers. Renowned for his lifelike depictions of North American wildlife, Burdette works in bronze and cold-cast bronze, creating sculptures of owls, bears, wolves, waterfowl, and other native species. His meticulous craftsmanship and realistic compositions have earned him a strong following among collectors throughout Canada and the United States.
