Description German dress bayonet with metal scabbard measuring approximately 16 inches overall. Blade is etched with the maker’s trademark Gustav Spitzer, Solingen featuring the company logo. The bayonet has a nickel-plated pommel and crossguard with black checkered grip scales secured by two rivets. Includes a black-painted metal scabbard with attached leather frog. Please review all photographs for maker markings, construction details, and overall condition. Condition Good overall condition with light surface wear, scattered spotting, and handling marks appropriate for age. Blade retains a bright finish with visible maker’s trademark. Nickel-plated fittings show light wear. Grip panels appear secure. Scabbard retains much of its original finish with scattered paint loss and scratches. Leather frog exhibits wear appropriate for age and use. Please refer to the photographs for overall condition. If you have any doubt regarding authenticity, please attend the preview and examine all photographs closely Note: This appears to be a German dress bayonet manufactured by Gustav Spitzer of Solingen, a well-known Solingen cutlery maker. Based on the photos, it does not appear to be a standard K98 combat bayonet but rather a dress or parade model, which remains collectible, especially with the maker-marked blade and accompanying scabbard and frog.
