Vintage WOOD STUDENT DESK Restoration PROJECT

NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > A vintage wood student desk measuring exactly 36" wide × 18" deep × 30" tall. Lacking the stretcher beneath the long drawer, lacking one knob from the upper side drawer, and exhibits buckling and separation of the veneer along portions of the pedestal sides. The structure requires reinforcement for greater stability and should be considered a restoration or upcycling project. The compact writing desk has a rectangular overhanging top above one long central drawer and a right-side pedestal fitted with three graduated drawers. Round wood knobs remain on the central drawer and two lower side drawers. The pedestal rests on a shaped plinth with a shallow scalloped apron, while the opposite side is supported by two straight square legs joined by low stretchers. The desk appears to be constructed from a combination of solid wood, secondary woods and veneered panels, with a warm reddish-brown stained finish. Paneled sides, straightforward drawer fronts and restrained lines reflect the practical student, bedroom or small office furniture produced during the early to mid-20th century. The narrow proportions make the desk suitable for refinishing as a writing desk, vanity, sewing table, bedside work station or painted accent piece. CONDITION REPORT > A restoration or upcycling project ~ The stretcher beneath the long drawer is absent, one knob is absent from the upper side drawer, and the veneer shows buckling, lifting and separation along portions of the pedestal sides. The frame requires reinforcement to improve stability. Scattered scratches, abrasions, finish wear, discoloration and small losses are visible throughout. Drawer operation has not been represented as smooth or fully functional. Offered as found and shown.
