AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A signed Red Leaf Pottery studio ceramic sculpture standing 4.25" tall and measuring approximately 3.5" x 2.5" across the oval base. The compact composition presents an abstract Holy Family or Nativity scene with two elongated figures gathered behind a reclining infant modeled across the foreground. The taller and shorter figures are formed with rounded, featureless heads and flowing bodies defined by deeply incised vertical lines. A softly blended blue green, charcoal and brown glaze moves across the figures, while the textured earth-tone base introduces mossy green and turquoise accents. The simplified, contemplative form gives the scene a quiet Mid-Century Modern and contemporary Southern folk-art character. The underside is impressed RED LEAF POTTERY, identifying the former Arcola, Mississippi studio operated by Rebecca and Peyton Potter. Red Leaf Pottery became known throughout the Southeast for handmade decorative and functional ceramics produced in the Mississippi Delta. The intimate scale and restrained modeling make the piece suitable for a Christmas display, prayer table, chapel collection or year-round presentation among Mississippi pottery, religious art and abstract figurative sculpture.
