AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A complete four piece vintage Fisher-Price Huffy Puffy No. 999 wooden pull train dating to the 1963 through 1970 production period. When connected, the train measures approximately 27" long, 5" tall and 5.25" wide. The grouping includes the Huffy Puffy locomotive, open gondola, cattle car and caboose, all riding on red wooden wheels and joined by yellow plastic couplings that allow the cars to be separated or rearranged. Red wheels, updated red, white and blue lithography and the RAILROAD diamond decoration identify this as the later version introduced in 1963, rather than the earlier yellow-wheel model produced from 1958 through 1962. The locomotive features the familiar red smiling face with rolling eyes, black smokestack, lithographed boiler, cab marked 999 and a side-mounted piston mechanism designed to pump in and out as the train rolls, producing the characteristic chugging action. The black cab roof bears the HUFFY PUFFY name. The open gondola displays multicolored diamond panels spelling RAILROAD. The cattle car features a natural wood roof, green base, white sliding gates and lithographed Fisher-Price decoration. The caboose retains the permanently mounted brakeman holding a lantern beneath the broad black roof. Fisher-Price introduced the first Huffy Puffy train in 1958 and completely redesigned the model around 1963. Collector references note that the No. 999 was the longest wooden train produced by Fisher-Price and that complete examples are often difficult to find because cars, couplings, lithographs and the locomotive grille were frequently lost or damaged during play. CONDITION REPORT > Complete four piece train with all cars and connecting couplings present. Expect extensive but appealing play wear, including finish loss, lithograph wear, scratches and other surface elements relative to age, materials and childhood use. Offered exactly as shown.
