NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > An exceptional late Mid-Century Modern to early Postmodern console or sofa table measuring 54" long, 18" deep and 26" tall. The elongated rectangular top, deep apron and substantial square legs create a bold, monolithic architectural silhouette associated with classic Parsons style furniture and the minimalist design vocabulary of the 1970s and 1980s. The entire wood-based structure is surfaced in smooth, muted olive to sage green decorative laminate, producing a durable satin finish with uninterrupted color and no applied ornamentation. The finish recalls the custom lacquered and architectural surfaces favored by period interior designers, while the earthy green palette and strong geometric proportions allow the table to complement Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, Minimalist and select Hollywood Regency interiors. Suitable for placement behind a sofa, within an entry hall or along a wall as a narrow display table, the design presents a sleek, substantial profile with the visual presence of a custom interior furnishing rather than conventional catalog furniture. A clearly legible stenciled maker’s mark beneath the top reads PARSONS DAUGHTERS, INC. Extensive research has revealed no readily accessible public history for the firm, supporting the likelihood that the name represents a unique boutique workshop, custom woodworking operation or interior design company producing proprietary furnishings for private clients or the design trade. The unusual name may also reflect a deliberate reference to the Parsons style form. The table exhibits a rare undocumented maker’s mark and an uncommon alternative to widely distributed consumer furniture from the period. The clean rectilinear construction, laminate surfacing and muted earth-tone color reflect later Mid-Century and early Postmodern design trends, while the streamlined silhouette recalls furniture associated with designers such as Milo Baughman, without making a direct designer attribution. CONDITION REPORT > Excellent vintage condition with a solid, sturdy frame. The stenciled maker’s mark remains clearly legible on the raw underside substrate.
