Federal Ordnance Model 98/85 Mauser

R Serial # J4762. 8mm Mauser caliber bolt action rifle with a 23-1/2” barrel. The bore is very good, mostly clean with strong rifling with some light fouling. Federal Ordnance operated out of El Monte CA from 1981-1992 and made Mauser actions based on the 98 Mauser action. Most were Spanish made receivers. This rifle appears to be made from a mix of various military Mauser parts. The blued metal finish on the barrel shows heavy wear and thinning. The metal finish on the receiver, barrel bands, floor plate and trigger guard is mostly worn/cleaned to bare metal. Presidential; eagle crest on the receiver. The laminated military stock and handguard have been cleaned and are in excellent condition showing a few minor marks and some light staining. Original military sights , the front blade is a replacement. The action works fine.
