U.S. Scott #65: the 1861 3¢ rose (or rose red) George Washington stamp (no grill).Same series as your previous #65 example—ornate frame, Washington profile, "U.S. POSTAGE" at top, "THREE CENTS" at bottom. The color here is the typical rose red shade (common issue). The prominent "PAID" marking is a postal marking (often a handstamp or precancel-style), which adds postal history interest but can reduce value slightly compared to lighter cancels. Perf 12.Swedish Tiger confirms #65 as extremely common with massive print runs. Values remain low for used copies; the "PAID" marking is noted in some specialist contexts but doesn't change the base Scott number.Siegel Auction sees plenty of #65s.
