U.S. Scott #205: the 1882 5¢ brown James Garfield stamp (American Bank Note Co. printing).It fits the later Bank Note/small format definitives: left-facing profile of Garfield in brown (or shades), with "UNITED STATES POSTAGE" arched at the top and "FIVE 5 CENTS" at the bottom. Perf 12, no watermark. This is from the 1881–1882 re-engraved series with updated designs.Swedish Tiger notes it as part of the American Bank Note issues with relatively high print runs, making sound used examples common but premium copies (good centering, color, light cancel) more desirable for collectors.Siegel Auction often sees these in classic U.S. lots.
