A pair of framed decorative works featuring 19th-century Victorian ephemera. The first piece contains an embossed paper lace card with a central oval sentiment reading Firm & True MY FRIENDSHIP is for you, positioned between two gold-toned silhouettes of a gentleman and a lady. The composition is accented with a chromolithographic floral spray at the base and is mounted on a maroon fabric mat within a stepped wooden frame with beaded inner detail. The second piece consists of a chromolithographic scrap depicting a hand holding a bouquet of forget-me-nots and a card inscribed A true heart., set within a gold-stamped light blue border with ruffled purple ribbon trim and a paper lace backing. This is mounted on a dark green fabric mat within a cream-painted wooden frame. Both items are protected under glass and secured at the reverse with cardboard panels and nails. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): Frame 1 (Maroon mat): H 23.5 cm x W 21 cm Frame 2 (Green mat): H 24.8 cm x W 21 cm. Condition: Both items exhibit age-related toning and light foxing to the paper elements. The fabric mats show minor fading. The wooden frames have scuffs, small chips, and some paint loss consistent with age. Small adhesive inventory labels are present on the glass surfaces. The reverse cardboard panels show discolouration. The glass components are free of cracks or visible damage.
