A collection of two pieces of vintage commercial advertising ephemera. The first item is a large-format grocer's broadsheet for The Red & White Stores, promoting the Reid Brothers location at 237 Hellems Avenue. Titled Summer-time is Sandwich-time, the advertisement details prices for a variety of grocery items including tinned tuna and salmon, preserves, produce, and confectionery. The layout also includes a promotion for World-Famous Godey Prints on service plates featuring 22 carat gold borders. The sheet is dated for sale on Friday and Saturday, July 15-16. The second item is a bilingual instructional and promotional flyer for the Opera Glass Triumph, also titled Jumelles Triumph. Printed on reddish-pink paper, the document includes a central illustration of the optical device and describes its multiple functions as a field glass, magnifier, reading glass, and medical mirror. The text is presented in both English and French, with the footer noting the item was Made in Germany. Red & White broadsheet: H 45.7 cm x W 27.9 cm Opera Glass flyer: H 27.9 cm x W 24.1 cm Measurements read from a visible tape measure. Condition: The Red & White broadsheet displays significant tanning consistent with age, with pronounced horizontal and vertical fold marks. There are instances of minor edge tearing, fraying, and small losses at the fold intersections and corners. The opera glass flyer shows light creasing and minimal edge wear, generally remaining in good order.
