This helmet features the distinctive shape developed from late-WWII German ballistic research, finished in standard issue olive drab paint. It is an original East German NVA M56/76 steel helmet produced in the post-war period, specifically after 1945 and before 1950, and issued throughout the Cold War. The helmet includes its original adjustable late-model liner, constructed with foam padding that shows yellowing, and a three-point leather chinstrap system. Moderate exterior scratching and scuffing is apparent on the helmet shell. This example reflects the design standards and service use for the National People's Army of East Germany. OT
