This olive drab steel helmet features the sloped shell design developed for the East German National People's Army post-1945, intended to maximize ballistic deflection. It is fitted with a late-model adjustable liner using yellow foam and a three-point leather strap system. The liner shows a handwritten name, and the leather straps display dryness consistent with age. The shell exhibits moderate exterior scuffing, especially along high-contact areas. The internal foam has visible crumbling, indicating long-term material fatigue. This example is a standard combat helmet as issued to personnel of the former East Germany, produced during the post-war era and reflecting the construction specifications of the M56/76 model. OT
