Featured is a 19th-to-early-20th-century Austro-Hungarian diplomatic/civil official bicorne hat (Zweispitz) features a black plush beaver felt body trimmed with black ribbed silk grosgrain borders and gold bullion tape along the front vertical strap, secured by a gilt brass button embossed with the Austro-Hungarian double-headed Imperial eagle. The side peaks are inset with bullion-embroidered cockade motifs. The interior is lined in pleated cream silk stamped with the maker Holecek & Comp. Prague L.-588 alongside a tan leather sweatband. The hat is in fair-to-good antique condition; the beaver felt exhibits notable moth tracking, surface shedding, and edge balding, while the silk border trim and internal silk lining show light fraying, aging, and minor loose stitching.
