This 10 by 7.5-inch photograph album features a green textured cover secured with a cord, displaying the spade and wheat ears insignia of the National Socialist Reich Labor Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst, RAD) on the front. It contains 22 double-sided pages holding 101 original black-and-white photographs and illustrations documenting RAD Unit 4/172 in Ottersberg. The collection is dated precisely from November 2, 1934, to March 31, 1935, and appears to have been compiled by a participant named Georg Frantel. The interior opens to a photographic portrait of Adolf Hitler, followed by a hand-illustrated title sheet reading Erinnerungen an den Arbeitsdienst (Memories of the Labor Service). The subsequent pages contain detailed imagery depicting camp buildings, RAD members performing on-duty labor, and various group scenes. Hand-written German language captions provide specific identification of locations and individual personnel throughout. The condition is consistent with age, showing light external use and some typical foxing to the internal paper pages. Some photographs in this album may be vintage photographic copies rather than original copies. PM
