This exceptionally large WWII photo album documents the service of a combat engineer in Pionier-Bataillon 30, based in Lübeck. WWII German Heer (Army) Commemorative Unit Album for Pionier-Bataillon 30, a combat engineer battalion part of the 30. Infanterie-Division. This unit participated in the 1940 invasion of Belgium and France and later saw heavy combat on the Northern Front in Russia (Courland Pocket). The 9" x 12" gray cloth cover features white gothic script and a gold-stamped Army eagle. The album is densely packed with 238 photographs—comprising both authentic period prints and later archival reproductions—spanning 22 pages. High-quality imagery includes formal studio portraits of engineers in Waffenrock tunics with black piping, field maneuvers, and a remarkable interior shot of a unit grenade armory. The collection offers a thorough visual narrative of the battalion’s garrison life in Lübeck and subsequent field operations. The album remains in robust condition with original blue cord binding and crisp internal mounting. The mounted eagle on the cover is missing. BP
