This striking black-on-black art pottery vessel features a highly burnished dark ground decorated with contrasting matte-finished geometric motifs. The intricate design includes stylized animal figures—appearing to be fish or birds—detailed with fine linear hatching, triangles, and dots, all set beneath a pointed, star-like geometric border that wraps around the top rim. While the style and execution are highly reminiscent of Mata Ortiz or Pueblo blackware traditions, the underside of the pot is unsigned. The piece remains in good display condition, exhibiting some typical minor surface wear, light scuffs, and handling smudges associated with polished blackware.
