This lot is a piece of Navajo etched pottery decorated with a bear and heartline design inside a circle, surrounded by geometric bands, in deep green, black, and terracotta clay colors. It is hand signed on the underside Mitchell Blackhorse Dineh, the word Dineh being the Navajo name for the Navajo people. The vase stands about five to six inches tall with a rounded body and a small opening. Mitchell Blackhorse is a known Navajo potter whose hand etched wares are collected for their fine carved detail. Condition is very good with a clean surface and no visible chips or cracks. Comparable signed Blackhorse etched pottery in this size commonly sells in the twenty five to fifty dollar range.
