This is a German bisque head baby doll marked J.D. Kestner 257, measuring 9.5 inches tall. The head, with applied brown wig and sleep eyes, is painted with delicate eyelashes, feathered brows, slightly open mouth with two upper teeth, and blushed cheeks. The back of the head is incised with the J.D.K. 257 mark and "Made in Germany 24". The body is a five-piece composition baby body, with jointed limbs and molded fingers and toes, showing typical age wear such as paint rubs, minor soiling, and discoloration on the limbs and torso. Possible restorations may be evident. The doll comes with period-appropriate pink dress, bonnet, undergarments, and matching knit baby shoes. Condition: age-appropriate scuffs, paint loss, and visible staining, but head remains intact with working sleep eyes. **Shipping Notice: Due to the delicate nature of the doll's sleep eye mechanism, any shipped doll will arrive with the wig and skull cap removed, and the eyes secured to help minimize the risk of damage during transit.
