6 Year Old Gelding -14.2 HH Ground Manners & Handling: Picks up all four feet Stands for the farrier (complimented on his first trim) Accepts fly masks and fly spray (pump or aerosol) Bathes quietly Hard or soft ties (still building trust with handling while tied) Loads, hauls, and backs out of the trailer confidently Hauls quietly alone or with other horses Easily caught, haltered, and handled by new people Multiple people have handled his feet, led him, and worked him through obstacles with success Experience & Exposure: Comfortable around goats, chickens, dogs, cats, and other horses Has completed mountain trail obstacles Trots in hand and side passes Enjoys water and confidently crosses it Settles into new environments with a little time By sale day, will have competed at two off-property competitions Temperament: Intelligent, willing, and learns quickly Very sensitive and responsive to light pressure Can become anticipatory, so he does best when exercises are broken into smaller steps rather than repeated patterns If he hesitates, a quiet increase in pressure is all he needs before releasing One of my favorite examples of his mindset was when a complete stranger took him into an arena trail class with no warm-up or opportunity to build a relationship beforehand. He calmly completed every obstacle that was asked of him. He received first place out of a class of 11 horses The Right Home: Chance is a truly special gelding. He is not suited for a beginner and will thrive with an experienced, patient horseman who values softness and is willing to continue building his confidence. My biggest priority is finding him the right home.
