A small fluted white food mold with a design of a lion in repose. The molded ironstone food mold has fluted sides and a reverse molded design of a lion in the well. The bottom (which becomes the top when flipped) is open and you can see the lion design through the bottom. The glaze is thick, smooth, and shiny with crazing. There is a flat foot that is very lightly glazed. MEASUREMENTS 4 7/8" (12.4 cm) long x 3 ¾" (9.5 cm) wide x 3 3/8" (8.4 cm) tall. Weighs 9.6 oz (275 g) CONDITION There are not breaks or chips to the body. The foot has one spot on the base where the glaze stuck to the kiln and was chipped off, resulting in a small chip and thin raised line. There is also a second small chip on the foot. Other than general crazing, the glaze is in good shape, and there are no stains. A fun small sized antique food mold for display in the kitchen. The open bottom is a bit unusual. Period: Late 19th Century Origin: United States Materials: Ironstone Dimensions: 4.88"W × 3.75"D × 3.33"H
