A colorful, antique, hand painted glass biscuit jar that is from the late Victorian era. The molded glass jar has been hand painted in a decoration of berry vines. The background is a dark warm rose color transitioning down the jar to a paler rose. The base is flat and white. The mouth rim has a silver plate band with a metal handle. There is a matching silver plate lid that fits snugly. The metal rim has a bead pattern. The lid has raised concentric circles with a round finial. There are no hallmarks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 6 ½ in (16.5 cm) diameter x 6 in (15.2 cm) tall to top of lid 9 in (22.9 cm) tall with the handle extended. Weighs 1 lb 6.8 oz. CONDITION There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. The painting is in good condition with only two tiny misses near the shoulder. I don't believe they are from wear but rather from manufacture. The silver plate is now devoid of silver. The iron handle is bent and shows some rust. A colorful antique biscuit jar to add to a collection or use to hold your biscuits and cookies. Period: Late 19th Century Origin: United States Materials: Silverplate/Glass Dimensions: 6.5"W × 6.5"D × 6"H
