A molded pair of ceramic bookends in the shape of fantail pigeons. The bookends have a distinct Art Deco styling. The molded ceramic pair of bookends have been glazed in a thick, warm ivory glaze that looks unctuous and shiny. The bases have shallow feet that are unglazed. The bases are glazed. Black stamped marks on the bases read "Hand painted ER PHILA Czechoslovakia". MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼ in (13.3 cm) wide x 4 ¼ in (10.8 cm) deep x 5 ¾ in (14.6 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lbs 5.2 oz. CONDITION They are generally in excellent condition. One bookend has a tiny glaze chip on the back of the tail and a very small chip on the rear corner of the base. The other bookend only has a chip along the front corner of the base. Because the glaze and the clay are so similar in color, they are difficult to see. Otherwise, there are no breaks, cracks, or repairs and the glazes have little to no crazing. A great pair of Art Deco bookends to hold up your books. Period: 1930s Origin: Czechia Materials: Porcelain Dimensions: 5.25"W × 4.25"D × 5.75"H
