A space age shaped serving dish with a speckled glaze and a hand painted design with an abstract tribal design. It was produced by Marc Bellaire of California in the 1950's. The design is painted with brown, avocado and orange on a beige ground with gray splatters. The colors are warm and earthen. It is a rare Bellaire pattern and we have two other dishes in this pattern for sale on our site. The base is glazed except for a couple of unglazed saggar marks. There is a hand painted Bellaire in a taupe cartouche on the base. MEASUREMENTS 13" (33.0 cm) long x 7 7/8" (20.0 cm) deep x 2 ¾" (7.0 cm) high. Weighs 1 lb 10.8 oz (760 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, repairs or breaks. The glazes are very fresh. There is light wear to the base, where the dish has been repeatedly moved on surfaces.
