Miniature 19th C Japanese Silver and Copper

Embodying the classic Japanese aesthetic of "less is more," this heavy, cast bronze miniature urn is a masterclass in understated elegance. The dark, speckled brown patina provides a moody backdrop for the exquisite silver and copper inlay. The design features two realistic bamboo stalks, captured with such precision that it includes the delicate detail of withered leaves and bare tips. The foot is very shallow and rounded. There is a tiny makers cartouche and script in the center of the base. The cartouche identifies the vase as having been made in Kyoto. MEASUREMENTS 1 ½ in (3.8 cm) diameter x 3 ½ in (8.9 cm) tall. Weighs 5.5 oz. CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or repairs. There is loss to the patina, especially just above the lower bamboo stalk and around the foot. There is a very tiny flat spot on the side of rounded mouth rim. The silver has shined up nicely. This artistic Japanese urn celebrates the beauty of nature's imperfections.
