Title: Helicopter with Yellow Bow and “Wrong War” Technique: Spray paint on cardboard Measures: 31 x 30 inches (approximately 78.7 x 76.2 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in fair to good overall condition. The surface shows crisp stenciled edges with soft overspray around the forms. The cardboard shows heavy creasing and wrinkling throughout, small punctures, and losses to the surface layer at the corners and lower edge. Two printed stickers are applied to the front. Presented unframed. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Tucson, Arizona; reportedly acquired through a private transaction in the late 1990s. Previous details were conveyed verbally by the consignor. Visual Description: A bold stenciled composition in black spray paint depicting an attack helicopter tilting forward across the upper portion of the sheet, its rotor blades slicing diagonally above. A bright yellow bow is tied playfully at the top of the aircraft, turning the military image into something incongruously sweet. Two smaller helicopters trail behind at the left, fading into scattered overspray. Below, the words “WRONG WAR” are stenciled in heavy black capitals, with a round Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament peace-symbol sticker forming the “O.” A printed “Stop the War” demonstration sticker dated 15 Feb 2003 is applied at the left. Rendered in the street-art style of Banksy, the work emphasizes stencil technique, ironic juxtaposition, and anti-war commentary, recalling the artist’s celebrated protest imagery of the early 2000s. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
