Title: Trees Reflected in a Riverbank Pond Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 10 x 14 inches (approximately 25.4 x 35.6 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The painted surface displays vivid colors and heavy impasto, with thick, broken strokes laid on throughout. Minor surface wear and age-related imperfections may be present. The reverse shows toning, a central stretcher bar, frayed canvas edges, an applied label and stamp marks. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Athens; reportedly acquired by private transaction in the 1970s. Previous ownership details were conveyed verbally. Visual Description: A vibrant Impressionist-inspired landscape of trees along the bank of a still pond. A twisting pale-trunked tree stands at the center, its branches spreading into feathery strokes of blue, green, and rust, flanked by slender trees at the left and a flowering mass of crimson and green at the right. Behind them, a band of golden and orange foliage glows against a deep blue sky. The bank is laid in with dabs of pink, coral, yellow, and green. Below, the water reflects the trees and bank in vertical strokes of green, orange, and yellow over a field of turquoise, blue, and cobalt. Rendered in the Impressionist style of Claude Monet, the painting emphasizes shimmering reflections, broken color, and the play of light on water, recalling the artist’s celebrated river and garden scenes. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
