Title: Two Biomorphic Figures in Primary Colors Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 16 x 20 inches (approximately 40.6 x 50.8 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The painted surface displays bright primary colors, bold black outlines, and soft spattered accents, with the canvas weave visible throughout. Minor surface wear and age-related imperfections may be present. Presented in a natural oak-toned wood frame with a rounded profile. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Cleveland, Ohio; reportedly purchased privately in the 1970s. Previous ownership information was conveyed verbally by the consignor. Visual Description: A playful Surrealist-inspired composition of two large biomorphic figures built from curving black lines and filled with segments of red, yellow, blue, green, and magenta against a cream ground. The figure at the left is a rounded form with a yellow spiral at its center, topped by small eyes on stalks and slender spiked antennae. At the right, a figure made of a striped circular body rises toward a bird-like head with a single eye and a fringe of black lashes. Black stars, dots, and hair-like strokes float across the surface, while soft spattered patches of magenta, blue, green, and yellow animate the background. Rendered in the Surrealist style of Joan Miró, the work emphasizes biomorphic fantasy, primary color, and poetic symbolism, recalling the artist’s celebrated personages, birds, and stars. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
