Title: Two Dancers in a Swirling Sky with Roses Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 23 x 19 inches (58.4 x 48.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The surface shows thick, swirling impasto with strong color and visible ridges of paint. Minor surface wear and a small loss near the lower right may be present. The reverse shows toning, scattered paint spots, applied labels and stamp marks. Presented in a gold-toned frame with a beaded inner edge. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Cannes, France. Visual Description: A Post-Impressionist-inspired composition of two dancing figures caught in a sweeping spiral of brushstrokes. At the left, a figure in red reaches forward, her body and trailing skirt formed from clusters of red and pink roses. At the right, a dark blue figure leans back with arms raised, his form dissolving into curling waves of blue, white and pale violet. Swirling orbs of orange, yellow and red fill the upper left, balanced by a large blue spiral at the upper right. Red roses with green leaves cascade across the lower left, while a trail of pale lavender blossoms and small red flowers curves through the deep blue at the lower right. The work bears an inscription reading “Vincent” in yellow at the lower right. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
