A late Victorian style rocking chair, frequently identified as a Lincoln rocker, featuring a stained hardwood frame. The construction includes a high backrest with a rectangular hand-woven natural cane panel situated above four turned spindles and a decoratively scalloped lower rail. The seat is similarly inset with a woven cane panel. The chair is designed with swept, open armrests and is supported by turned front legs and square-tapered rear legs, all mounted on rockers joined by turned stretchers. The piece is assembled using mortice and tenon joinery. Overall height: approx. 94 cm (37 inches) Seat width at widest point: approx. 43 cm (17 inches) (Dimensions measured against a visible tape measure). Condition: The chair is in fair to good condition, consistent with its age and use. The cane-work on both the back and seat appears largely intact with minor age-related wear and slight sagging to the seat panel. The wooden frame displays a warm patina with various surface scratches, minor indentations, and wear to the finish, particularly on the rockers and armrests. A small dark indentation is visible on the front right corner of the seat frame.
