Street View Horse Carriages. Captured on May 31, 1903, this original antique silver print photograph documents the historic Hutchinson, Kansas flood from an elevated perspective down a main commercial thoroughfare, detailing submerged storefronts, telephone lines, and residents navigating the water via rowboats and horse-drawn carriages. Mounted on an 8-by-10-inch dark gray heavy paperboard with the image itself measuring approximately 6.5 by 4.75 inches, the unattributed commercial photograph is inscribed in the negative at the bottom center, "Hutchinson Flood, May, 31. 1903." Serving as a rare piece of turn-of-the-century Midwest disaster ephemera for regional, urban history, and photojournalism collectors, the print presents in overall very good antique condition, retaining sharp clarity and strong detail throughout the streetscape while the mount board displays expected age-appropriate wear such as minor edge rubbing, subtle corner wear, and light margin fading.
