SHIPPING AVAILABLE or LOCAL PICKUP > An ornate antique cast brass three-light girandole wall mirror measuring approximately 16" high x 9-1/2" wide overall, including the hanging crystal prisms, and extending approximately 8" from the wall when mounted. The substantial openwork brass frame surrounds a beveled mirror plate and incorporates three fixed projecting candle arms fitted with cast brass candle cups and bobeches. The frame is richly modeled in a Rococo Revival manner with scrolling foliate ornament and a prominent sculptural bearded Bacchic or satyr-style mask crowning the mirror. Closely comparable late 19th and early 20th century examples are cataloged as brass or gilt-brass three-light girandole mirrors, frequently combining pierced scrollwork, a central beveled mirror and crystal prism drops. A particularly similar unmarked example attributed to Bradley & Hubbard is dated circa 1880, while another closely related gilt-brass example is dated circa 1900–1920, supporting a late 19th to early 20th century period for this general form. Each of the three candle platforms is ornamented with faceted glass drops and elongated cut crystal prisms designed to catch and reflect candlelight. The beveled mirror served the same purpose, multiplying and intensifying the light produced by the three candles. This combination of mirror, candlelight and suspended prisms is characteristic of the decorative wall fixtures commonly termed girandole mirrors. The cast brass retains an attractive aged gold and bronze patina with considerable surface detail remaining throughout the pierced frame, mask, candle cups, arms and decorative mounts. Candles shown in photographs are for display only and are not included. CONDITION REPORT > Age-related patina ~ Perhaps typical and minor elements relative to age and materials ~ Crystal drops remain substantially present with possible minor edge wear, small chips or irregularities.
