AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Coleman PowerChill Model 5640 series 40-quart thermoelectric cooler, finished in blue and white and accompanied by the Coleman electrical accessories shown. Designed as an iceless portable cooler for travel, camping, vehicles and supplemental household use. Coleman’s original specifications for the 5640 series list a 40 U.S. quart / 37.85-liter capacity, sufficient for up to 58 twelve-ounce cans or six 2-liter bottles. Exterior dimensions are approximately 21-3/4" x 15" x 17-1/8" tall, with an empty weight of about 17 lbs. The thermoelectric system operates from 12-volt DC power, rated at 4 amps nominal, and Coleman originally specified cooling performance of 38°F to 42°F below the surrounding ambient temperature. Unlike many later cooling-only versions, the 5640-series design was also engineered for warming, using a reversible power connection to change operating mode. Coleman specified heating capability from approximately 110°F to 140°F under normal ambient conditions. The cooler may be positioned horizontally in conventional chest form or vertically in a refrigerator-style arrangement. The insulated door incorporates a gasket and latch, while the interior contains the thermoelectric module and circulating fan assembly. An 8-foot 12-volt power cord was standard equipment for this series. Also included is the Coleman household AC power converter shown, allowing use from a standard electrical outlet rather than requiring a vehicle’s 12-volt receptacle. The electrical cord and reversible cooling or heating connector are included as photographed. CONDITION REPORT > Shows typical cosmetic wear, scuffs and surface marks relative to age, use and materials. Interior presents reasonably clean. The unit was plugged in and fan operated, with the cooling plate becoming noticeably cold during our basic check. No extended temperature test was performed and we cannot certify cooling or heating performance to original factory specifications; therefore, offered as shown with no further operational guarantee.
