AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Group of U.S. Army uniform pieces including brown wool service trousers, khaki necktie and woven web trouser belt with brass buckle. The trousers are marked inside the waistband W29 L33, with Quartermaster stock number 55-T-35429-33. That stock-number series is associated with the late-1940s M-1948 style wool service trousers, placing this pair most appropriately in the post-WWII to Korean War era. Comparable examples carrying the same 55-T-35429 series are identified as late-1940s military trousers. Handwritten lettering inside the waistband presents the initials and last name of the soldier, providing an additional personal service association without publishing the individual’s identity in this catalog. Accompanying the trousers is a plain khaki military necktie of the type used with U.S. Army service uniforms during the WWII period and into the immediate postwar years. Khaki ties replaced earlier black service ties during WWII, while Army regulations moved toward olive-green ties after the war. Also included is an olive-drab woven military web trouser belt with sliding brass buckle marked SOLID BRASS. Web belts of this general type were widely worn with Army service trousers during the WWII and postwar period; surviving period examples are known with solid-brass hardware. Together, the trousers, tie and belt form a representative U.S. Army service-uniform grouping from the late 1940s into the Korean War period, with the trousers providing the strongest dating evidence through the surviving Quartermaster stock markings. In addition to collector interest as period militaria, the grouping is also suitable for historical reenactment, educational display and theatre or film costume. CONDITION REPORT > Perhaps typical and minor elements relative to age, use and materials ~ Overall, seemingly well preserved.
