AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Vintage U.S. Army removable wool overcoat liner, size 36 Long, constructed with a brown wool body, olive drab satin-type interior, button front, open armholes and large green patch pockets. The interior retains the original government-use patent label reading MFG'D FOR GOVERNMENTAL USE ONLY UNDER PATENT NOS. RE. 21676 & 2198064. Research indicates this removable liner system was used with U.S. Army overcoats from the World War II period into the early Korean War era, with documented examples carrying the same patent information appearing from the mid-1940s into the early 1950s. In the absence of a dated contract label, we would conservatively place this example within that broader 1940s to early 1950s military period rather than assign a more exact date. The substantial wool construction was intended to provide additional cold-weather insulation while allowing the liner to be removed from the outer overcoat as conditions required. An interesting surviving piece of U.S. military cold-weather uniform equipment from the WWII to Korean War transition era. CONDITION REPORT > Seemingly a well preserved example ~ Perhaps typical and minor elements relative to age, use and materials.
