AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Large carved monkey pod wood bowl in the form of a pineapple, measuring 18" long x 9" wide and 4" deep, weighing a notable 1-3/4 pounds. The elongated oval bowl is carved from a single substantial piece of wood, with a deeply hollowed interior, raised rim, pointed pineapple crown to one end and short stem projection to the opposite end. The warm brown monkey pod wood displays pronounced natural grain throughout, with flowing tonal variation visible across both the interior and exterior surfaces. The carved crown is formed with three sharply defined pointed leaves, giving the bowl a strong sculptural profile while retaining practical serving or display use. Underside is recessed to form a broad foot and is marked FAIR CRAFT PHILIPPINES, identifying the piece as Philippine production. Fair Craft monkey pod serving pieces are associated with the mid- to later-20th-century popularity of carved tropical hardwood tableware and decorative accessories exported from the Philippines. The pineapple form gives the bowl particular appeal for tropical, mid-century, tiki, retro kitchen and decorative wood collections, while the substantial 18" size makes it suitable as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, serving bowl or display object. CONDITION REPORT > Some surface scratches, blemishes to the underside, with the top and bowl interior remaining well preserved.
