AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Large-format softcover photography volume Ansel Adams: Our National Parks, edited by Andrea G. Stillman and William A. Turnage, published by Bulfinch / Little, Brown in 1992. The book contains 128 pages and presents 78 duotone reproductions of Adams’ celebrated black-and-white landscape photography covering more than 40 national parks and monuments. The volume combines Adams’ dramatic wilderness photography with selections from his writings concerning conservation, public lands and the importance of preserving America’s national parks. Adams became closely identified with the national park movement through decades of photographic work and environmental advocacy, and this collection was assembled specifically around that relationship. The cover features one of Adams’ iconic views of the Snake River and the Teton Range, emphasizing the monumental mountain, river and sky compositions for which his work became internationally recognized. Interior plates reproduce landscapes from locations including Yosemite, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and other major American parklands. Published as a substantial illustrated photography book rather than a simple park guide, the volume has broad appeal to collectors of Ansel Adams, fine-art photography, American landscape photography, conservation history and National Park material. CONDITION REPORT > Seemingly a well preserved example ~ Perhaps typical and minor elements relative to age, handling and materials.
