AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP ~ SEE MEDIA DISCLAIMER BELOW > Early original Lemon Records pressing of Jerry Clower from Yazoo City, Mississippi Talkin’, the regional comedy album that directly preceded Jerry Clower’s national breakthrough with MCA. The front cover features Clower with raccoon illustration and identifies several of the rural Southern comedy routines within, including A Coon Huntin’ Story, Bully Has Done Flung a Cravin’ on Me and Marcell’s Talkin’ Chain Saw, along with other stories drawn from life in Amite County, Mississippi. This Lemon Records issue is historically important because it represents Clower’s pre-MCA recording career. Before national distribution, Clower sold the album directly and regionally, largely through speaking appearances and mail order. Contemporary accounts report that roughly 8,000 copies were sold on the Lemon label before the record gained wider attention, including airplay on WSM in Nashville, leading to an MCA recording contract and national reissue in 1971. The rear cover includes a biographical profile of Clower, an introduction by “Big Ed Wilkes,” full track listing, production credits, and the distinctive Lemon Records branding. Recording credits include Jerry Welch as recording engineer, Bud Andrews as producer, Eddy Nicholson as talent coordinator and Fred Beasley for graphics. The gold Lemon label identifies the album as Jerry Clower From Yazoo Mississippi Talkin’, with selections published through BMC Joyful Noise Music and production by Bud Andrews. This early regional pressing predates the much more widely distributed MCA issue and is of particular interest to collectors of Mississippi music, Southern comedy and Clower memorabilia. While the Lemon pressing is less common and more historically significant than the later MCA release, collector value is driven more by condition and demand than rarity alone. The strongest appeal is the record’s place as the original pre-MCA breakout issue in Clower’s career rather than any major difference in recorded content. MEDIA DISCLAIMER > Record has not been professionally cleaned or play-tested. Visual inspection alone cannot determine playback quality, and no guarantee is made regarding skips, surface noise, distortion, warping, groove wear or other issues affecting play. Buyer should assume the record may require cleaning and should evaluate suitability for playback based on the photographs and description.
