AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP ~ SEE MEDIA DISCLAIMER BELOW > Pair of George Winston solo piano LP records representing two important phases of his career and emphasizing the quiet, melodic keyboard style for which he became widely known. 1. WINTER INTO SPRING ~ Windham Hill Records, released in 1982 as catalog WH-1019. Winston’s third solo piano album was conceived around the seasonal transition from winter toward spring and includes January Stars, February Sea, Ocean Waves (O Mar), Reflection, Rain/Dance, Blossom/Meadow and Venice Dreamer. The album was produced by George Winston and William Ackerman, engineered by Howard Johnston and mastered by Stan Ricker. It later achieved Platinum status in the United States and became one of the signature Windham Hill solo-piano releases of the period. 2. PIANO SOLOS ~ Winston’s early debut recording, originally issued in 1973 on Takoma Records and later associated with the material reissued by Windham Hill under the title Ballads and Blues 1972. The album reflects Winston’s formative interests in folk, blues, ragtime and melodic solo piano, and was co-produced by guitarist and Takoma founder John Fahey. These recordings predate Winston’s better-known seasonal albums and show the development of the restrained, highly personal piano style that later became central to his career. Together, the pair offers a useful contrast between Winston’s earlier blues-and-folk-influenced solo work and the atmospheric seasonal piano sound that made him one of the best-known instrumental pianists associated with Windham Hill Records. Both are well suited for listeners seeking quiet instrumental piano, reflective background music, contemporary acoustic piano and new age or ambient-style listening. MEDIA DISCLAIMER > Records have not been professionally cleaned or play-tested. Visual inspection alone cannot determine playback quality, and no guarantee is made regarding skips, surface noise, distortion, warping, groove wear or other issues affecting play.
