AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Measuring 12" in diameter, standing 1" tall to the extended flange rim, and weighing a notable 2 pounds, a substantial French pewter charger produced by Les Étains d'Anjou. The broad shallow form and heavy construction reflect traditional French table and presentation pewter, with a restrained design influenced by much earlier European metalware. Marked to the underside with a crowned heraldic device above a ribbon reading LABOR NOSTER HONOR, translating to Our Work Is Our Honor, together with ETAIN 90% and the scripted Les Étains d'Anjou maker's mark with DPS. The ETAIN 90% designation identifies the composition as 90% tin pewter. The heraldic presentation, Latin motto, substantial weight and traditional form give the piece a distinctly old world character. Les Étains d'Anjou was a French pewter maker associated with the Anjou region and known for quality table, decorative and presentation wares. While the design strongly recalls earlier European pewter, the commercial maker and alloy markings place production within the modern Les Étains d'Anjou period; an exact production date not established. An additional worn crowned monogram or heraldic mark is present near the rim. CONDITION REPORT > Bends and dimples to portions of the flange rim.
