STUDIO POTTERY HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER on METAL STAND

NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > A distinctive handmade studio pottery hummingbird feeder suspended within a sculptural metal rod stand. The stand measures 20" tall with a 7.5" diameter base, while the wheel thrown pottery vessel stands around 7" tall. The pottery vessel is displayed inverted, seated within a metal retaining ring and further secured with string. The upper end of the vessel is fitted with three small feet, creating a tripod-like structure around the top when inverted. Beneath the feet are hand incised artist initials, although the mark has not been successfully deciphered or attributed to a specific potter. The vessel is finished in an earthy brown glaze with cream, blue and darker mottled accents, retaining visible throwing lines around the body. A metal feeding spout and orifice project from the lower end, allowing nectar to dispense for hummingbirds. The black metal stand is formed from continuous curved rod with a circular base and tall arched support, giving the feeder a decorative sculptural presentation suitable for a porch, patio or garden setting. The combination of hand thrown pottery, wrought metal support and functional hummingbird feeding hardware makes this a particularly unusual piece of studio craft. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Artist initials are present but remain unidentified.
