AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP ~ SEE TIMEPIECE DISCLAIMER BELOW > A vintage Hamilton Wilshire Registered Edition quartz wristwatch, introduced as a 1980s reissue of Hamilton’s celebrated 1939 Wilshire driver-style wristwatch. The gently curved rectangular case measures in the range of 22.5–23 mm wide by 30.5–30.7 mm tall, excluding the crown, with the distinctive flexible or pivoting lug construction that allows the case and strap to conform more naturally to the wrist. The silvered to champagne-tone dial carries raised gold-tone Art Deco Arabic numerals, matching gold-tone hands, a perimeter minute track and a separate subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position. The dial is signed HAMILTON, presenting the strong geometric styling associated with the original prewar Wilshire design. The reverse is engraved BASE METAL BEZEL ~ REGISTERED EDITION ~ HAMILTON ~ STAINLESS STEEL BACK. The Registered Edition Wilshire was introduced in 1983 as a quartz-powered revival of the earlier mechanical model, using a Swiss quartz movement while retaining the characteristic rectangular case, decorative numerals and flexible driver-style lugs. Period examples are documented with high-grade jeweled ETA quartz movements. Fitted with a black textured leather strap and gold-tone buckle, the watch retains the restrained formal appearance that made the Wilshire one of Hamilton’s better-known Art Deco designs. The Registered Edition examples have developed a following among collectors because they combine the visual character of the late-1930s original with later quartz operation. A new battery has been installed, and the watch is presently functioning. Timekeeping accuracy has not been checked over an extended period. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Case and case back exhibit surface wear, scratches and evidence of prior use. Strap exhibits wear consistent with age and use. New battery installed and watch functioning at time of listing.
