AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Vintage Cellini decorative glass perfume bottle of Italian origin, standing 5 inches tall with stopper in place and measuring 2.5 inches square across the base. The substantial clear glass bottle is topped by a figural cast metal bird stopper, individually hand-painted with naturalistic feather detailing and contrasting coloration, perhaps in the manner of a bullfinch songbird. The square-bodied bottle is formed with gently sloping shoulders rising to the narrow neck, creating a compact architectural profile beneath the sculptural bird finial. The combination of heavy clear glass and hand-painted metalwork is characteristic of Cellini decorative perfume bottles, with related examples produced with a variety of colorful bird forms and marketed as decorative vanity and dresser accessories. Together, the bottle and stopper weigh a notable 12 ounces, giving the relatively small piece considerable substance. Cellini bird-topped bottles are documented as Italian-made decorative glassware and appear in numerous variations featuring hand-painted songbirds and other avian subjects. Surviving examples are collected both as vintage perfume bottles and as decorative Italian glass accessories. CONDITION REPORT >
