AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A matched pair of signed studio pottery pieces by Deb Lynne, a Tennessee area potter associated with the Knoxville region whose handmade work is believed to have been offered through local shops. Later in life, Lynne suffered significant vision problems, adding further interest to surviving signed examples of her work. 1 > COASTAL BIRD BOWL Wheel-thrown bowl standing 2.5" tall and measuring 7.25" in diameter, finished in a warm natural stoneware tone with a pale glazed interior and light blue glazed exterior band. The interior features three individually incised and hand-colored birds arranged among reeds and marsh vegetation. The imagery includes a heron-like wading bird, a pelican, and a second long-legged marsh bird, creating a distinctly coastal wetland scene. The decoration is simple and folk-like, with the birds worked directly into the clay surface before firing. 2 > SONGBIRD MUG Wheel-thrown mug standing just over 3" tall to the body and measuring 4" in diameter, excluding the oversized loop handle. The interior is finished in blue glaze, while the exterior retains the warm natural clay surface. Around the body are several incised and hand-colored birds, including a cardinal, blue jay, and smaller sparrow-like songbird, each individually rendered against the stoneware surface. The unusually large handle gives the mug a strong handmade character and substantial visual presence. Both pieces are signed DEB LYNNE to the underside, with the name scored directly into the clay in a freehand manner characteristic of individually made studio pottery. Together, the bowl and mug present a particularly appealing pair of nature-themed Southern studio pottery, combining functional forms with hand-incised bird decoration drawn from both coastal marsh and backyard songbird imagery. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered, notably well preserved examples.
