Original Italian architectural watercolor on paper by Fabio Previtali, an Italian architect and watercolor artist associated with Bergamo. Previtali's architectural background is particularly evident in this detailed depiction of Bergamo’s Città Alta and Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore, where historic buildings are reduced to overlapping geometric forms while retaining their distinctive architectural character. The composition features softly layered blue, ochre, rose, gray, cream, and red tones in a distinctly mid-century modernist style. Previtali is documented professionally as a Bergamo-based architect and graduate of the Politecnico di Milano who also works in watercolor. The artwork measures approximately 20" x 28.5", with an overall framed size of 34.5" x 43.5". The reverse retains an older identification label reading “Città Alta, Piazza di S. Maria Maggiore, Bergamo,” along with an ownership label stating “Property of Beatrice B. Moeller, Purchased 1970, Westport, CT.” Professionally custom framed by McBride’s Framing Gallery of Tucson with TruGuard UV-protection glazing.
