Original 1966 Italian architectural watercolor on paper by Fabio Previtali, depicting the historic Sant’Egidio in Fontanella at Sotto il Monte near Bergamo, Italy. The composition showcases Previtali's architectural eye through the simplified geometry of the Romanesque church, bell tower, arches, rooflines, and surrounding structures, rendered in softly layered cream, blue, ochre, terracotta, gray, and earth tones. The work is signed Previtali and dated ’66 at the lower right. Fabio Previtali is a Bergamo-based Italian architect and watercolor artist whose professional background includes architectural and urban planning work. The reverse retains an older handwritten identification label reading “St. Egidio di Fontanella, Sotto il Monte, Bergamo,” along with an ownership label stating “Property of Beatrice B. Moeller, Purchased 1970, Westport, CT.” Professionally custom framed by McBride’s Framing Gallery of Tucson with TruGuard UV-protection glazing. A wonderful mid-century Italian watercolor, architectural painting, Bergamo landscape, and European travel artwork with documented ownership dating to 1970. See photos for signature, date, labels, framing, and overall condition.
