Civil War USN M1841 Naval Cutlass. Double edged blade. Maker marked by Ames on the ricasso, faded. Marked USN R on the reverse. Cast brass hilt with D guard and fish scale pattern grip secured by three steel rivets. Marked JL and RC on the quillon. Stamped 29 inside the guard. No scabbard. Blade Length: 21" Total Length: 26 1/2" Condition: Good. Light wear, dark spots, finish loss and oxidation. Quillon is bent.
