Civil War USN M1841 Naval Cutlass. Double edged blade. Maker marked by Ames on the ricasso, dated 1843 on the reverse. Cast brass hilt with D guard and fish scale pattern grip secured by three steel rivets. Marked WAJ and WP on the quillon, stamped 306 inside the guard. No scabbard. Blade Length: 21" Total Length: 26 1/2" Condition: Good. Light to moderate wear, dark spots, pitting, finish loss and oxidation. Quillon is bent.
