Piper, John (British, 1903-1992). Untitled (Winter), from Four Seasons Portfolio. Etching and aquatint, ND (ca 1981). Signed and numbered 32/100 in pencil below platemark. 17 3/4" x 15" (Sight). 29 1/2" x 25 3/4" (Frame). Metal frame with double mat, not examined out of frame. John Egerton Christmas Piper CH was an English painter, printmaker and designer of stained-glass windows and both opera and theatre sets. His work often focused on the British landscape, especially churches and monuments, and included tapestry designs, book jackets, screen prints, photography, fabrics and ceramics.
